Kajima launches The Gear, its new regional HQ in Changi Business Park

Kajima Corp, one of the leading Japanese construction and real estate companies, unveiled its new regional headquarters – The Gear: Kajima Lab for Global Engineering, Architecture & Real Estate – which is located at Changi Business Park on August 4. This highly-anticipated development was in the making for almost a decade, after the late Dr Shoichi Kajima put forth a mission to set up a base in Singapore.

The project was spearheaded by Kajima Development Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kajima Corp and by Kajima Overseas Asia Singapore. Despite operational disruptions due to the pandemic, the building was successfully completed and obtained the Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) on March 31.

Boasting a state-of-the-art design from Kajima’s team of architects and engineers in Japan, the hub includes a research and development facility to raise the bar for innovative solutions to global climate change and urbanisation challenges. Spearheaded by Kajima Technical Research Institute Singapore, first established in 2013, the firm will be well-positioned to accelerate the development of solutions to rapidly-evolving trends.
