Savills Singapore, in partnership with Arup Singapore, has been appointed to consult on the design and development of a new $170 million airframe maintenance facility for Singapore-listed engineering group ST Engineering. In a Sept 23 press release, it was revealed that Savills will oversee the project’s life cycle, from due diligence, design and procurement to its construction.
The project will see the building of a 904,176 sq ft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Changi Creek, complete with four hangar bays capable of servicing widebody aircraft, including a hybrid paint and maintenance bay. The hangars are expected to be ready in stages, with the first to become functional by mid-2025, followed by the remaining three by the end of 2026.
Vincent Lau, senior director and head of project management at Savills Singapore, states that this makes their fifth large industrial greenfield development project clinched by the team in the last two years. “It is a testament to the faith and trust that our clients have placed in Savills as one of the leading consultancy project management teams in the construction and real estate market,” says Lau.
The news of this project comes after recent announcements from the firm, including the Lavender Street shophouses being put up for sale for $12.5 million and a 6.1% rise in industrial leasing volume to 3,298 tenancies in the second quarter of 2020, for which Savills also serves as a consultant. As well as this, the company has appointed a new co-head for international residential sales.
