Wee Cho Yaw retires as chairman and director of Singapore Land Group; Wee Ee Lim to become next chairman

Singapore Land Group U06 0.00% is bidding farewell to Chairman and Director Wee Cho Yaw, who is retiring after a tenure of over 30 years. On March 31, Mr. Wee, aged 94, will step down from the role and be appointed to the honorary position of Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Adviser of the Group.

In addition to this post, Mr. Wee is currently the Chairman Emeritus Champions Way Condo and Honorary Adviser of United Overseas Bank (UOB). He is also a substantial shareholder of Singapore Land Group.

The next Chairman of Singapore Land Group will be Wee Ee Lim, the son of Wee Cho Yaw. Mr. Lim is himself a Non-Executive and Non-Independent Director of the Group, since May 1999. He is also the President and CEO of Haw Par Corporation and has served in this role since October 2003.

On February 24, shares of Singapore Land Group closed 2 cents higher, or 0.86% up at $2.34.

Wee Cho Yaw is retiring after a tenure of more than 30 years as Chairman and Director for Singapore Land Group U06 0.00%. On March 31, he will step down from his role and be appointed as Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Adviser of the Group.

Mr. Wee, aged 94, has been a substantial shareholder of the Group since his appointment to the board on June 26, 1992. Additionally, the Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Adviser of United Overseas Bank (UOB), also holds this honorary title.

To replace Mr. Wee as Chairman of Singapore Land Group will be his son, Wee Ee Lim. Lim has held the post as Non-Executive and Non-Independent Director of the Group since May 1999, and is also the President and CEO of Haw Par Corporation since October 2003.

On February 24, the Group’s shares closed 0.86% up at $2.34 upon news of the retirement.

Mr. Wee’s legacy will live on in the Group, ensuring that the leadership of Singapore Land Group continues to strive for excellence.
